Top Picks for SS15 fashion for Kids
A last the sun has tentatively appeared so it’s time for some appropriate clothing. Here are my top picks, along with some serious footwear and of course the obligatory raincoat to see your little (boy!) one through. I’ve kept cost down to a minimum and a big focus on primary colours and checks and stripes – my little boy goes crazy for anything patterned.
COLUMN ONE
Colourful, super-durable and comfy (towelling inside, PVC -free) raincoat from Hatley but buy big and this one will last and last. Loads of fun designs too. £35
Varsity Jackets are in this year! This one is great value from Mothercare £12
Shirt and T-Shirt combination covers all the primary colours so will go with anything plain Mothercare £12
Every kid needs a pair of joggers and these have a little more shape than others. Mothercare £12
COLUMN TWO
Parrot T-Shirt £5, Red Chino Shorts, £8 Mothercare
Hopefully a sunsafe suit will be needed. Keeping skin protected with this Sea Animals two piece is easy. Mothercare £15
For those smarter moments, this gorgeous long sleeved polo shirt from Spanish brand Mayoral is a must. £22.50
COLUMN THREE
Blue Sunglasses T-Shirt and Checked Cargo Shorts – summer staples at reasonable prices. Mothercare. £5 and £10 respectively.
Blue Polo Shirt and Green shorts with blue turn-ups. Mothercare £5, £10
COLUMN FOUR
Shoes are super-important whatever time of the year. My little boy needs good ankle support as he is hypermobile. Primigi is a major player in Italy and all over the world and their shoes are of the absolute highest quality. Designed with kids and growing feet in mind, they are durable, comfortable and lightweight and breathable. From £35. Buy at Igloo. (Rows 1 and 3)
Sandals are must. These from Menthe et Grenadine, a boutique producing high quality, classic children’s shoes are unbeaten in style and comfort in my opinion. Made in small European factories that use traditional shoemaking methods, their shoes remind me of a bygone era. Proper fitting and focus on foothealth and correct footwear for growing feet
To complement any smart outfit, no child could look cooler than in their take on leather driving shoes. Again from Mayoral, get them before they sell out. In a selection of gorgeous colours. £41.99
