The Only Five Things to Know – How to Throw a Fantastic Third Birthday Party.

November 26, 2014 by admin

I’m getting good at this, if I may say so myself. With three birthday parties under my belt I can safely say that I think I have the near perfect formula. So, without further ado:

Entertainment- whether you have 13 or 30 kids, you need to keep them amused. The party is for them after all. Keep the little ones happy and you are almost all the way there. Don’t and you could have a riot on your hands. Entertainers weren’t all born equal. Ask for recommendations or go with whomever impressed you at another party. Failing that, it’s always worth asking for recommendations in relevant groups on Facebook. One of my favourites for this is Top Tips 4 Mums. We always go with Tara and The Giggle Company-you can’t get better! Continue Reading

Marty MacDonald’s Farm at the Leicester Square Theatre

November 3, 2014 by admin

Marty has bought his uncle’s farm and he needs our help! Starring the voice of CBEEBIES’ Justin Fletcher as Pongo the Pig and directed by Tweenies creator Ian Lauchlan this is good, honest fun for the little ones.
Presenter Martin Parsons enlists the help of his young audience along with Sheena the Sheep, Molly Moo the Cow and Pongo the Pig to save the farm from Crafy the Crow. Selling wool, milk and Pongo’s joke books at market and singing all the staples along the way including Wheels on the Bus”, the ‘Grand Old Duke of York’ and of course ‘Young Macdonald’!
This is a lovely show that has the kids joining in but not going mad. None of the tack or the’ in yer face’ of some too enthusiastic pantos. My slightly shy-at-first three-year old didn’t get overwhelmed but instead joined in for a change. That’s a winner in eyes! Running at The Leicester Square Theatre. Continue Reading

Elephantom at the New London Theatre – A Review – Enchanting For Young and Old!

August 21, 2014 by admin
It’s the school holidays so bring on the activities. I prefer theatre to cinema; it’s higher brow! Start them early, I say. Moving after an acclaimed season at the National, Elephantom at the New London Theatre is a “must see” for young and old.  An enchanting story of a little girl who at first adores having an imaginary elephant living in her house, it makes her life so much more thrilling, her parents are always preoccupied and for the most part seem pretty disinterested in what she does.  But Elephantoms are too large for houses and before long major chaos ensues… The masterful puppetry and movement is so amazing you are completely spellbound and barely acknowledge the actors manipulating them.  Dialogue is not missed in the slightest and makes the production even more special, movement of the cast almost like watching a ballet. The highlight for kids has to be the fantastic array of music, sounds, lights and dancing Elaphantoms, you only need to look around to see how engaged they all are and totally stunned by what they see.  For the oldies among us, the subtle nuisances conveyed by the cast are brilliant – all in all a fun and inspiring piece of theatre which allows you to fuel your imagination as well as touch on your heart-strings!
