This is a post from last year but just an update as ReLuma is now available in the UK. Brilliant news. About time we had a real advance in skincare.
Another glorious day of rain in London. Week 27, 13 weeks to go and things are becoming more real to me at long last. I think that I just about feel pregnant! Now being the time that my (once) petite 5’1 and a half(!) frame has an extremely large protrusion jutting out from the front, it’s no surprise really. It’s funny how obsessed with weight and size we are. I really thought that when I became pregnant that I would almost be like a different person. That I would change, grow up and just be so happy and ‘blooming’ and ‘pregnant’ that I wouldn’t care. In fact, I really expected a whole new pregnant me; an entirely different, more grown up, mother-to-be but no! No! No! No! Major preconception proved to be untrue. I feel exactly the same. I’m now moving the timeline on slightly for preconceptions and I’m thinking that once baby is born in November that I’ll feel more grown-up. I’ll be a real mummy then. I can almost hear your reaction! I know, I know. I bet nothing changes. Of course it won’t. As my mother once said to me only a few years ago, she still feels the same way that she did at eighteen (funnily enough she almost looks it too and she still has that sense of naivety that is so sweet). It’s been a while since we visited a Milsom’s Hotel. One child later and here we are, back at one of the most successful boutique hotel group’s flagship properties, Maison Talbooth. It’s actually a stroke of luck that this luxurious country house hotel is perpetually booked throughout the summer months – it’s 12 luxurious bedrooms make it feel more like a country home than a hotel and it’s garden, cosy spa, gorgeous outdoor pool (heated to a bath-like temperature of 85 degrees all year round) and pool house complete with roaring fire and honesty bar makes the perfect backdrop to a wedding, hen party and in fact every kind of house party for the discerning. So, it’s not easy to get a weekend reservation unless you are celebrating something significant! The day before we arrived the whole house had been taken over for an eightieth birthday and I hear that they didn’t go to bed until past 2am! Continue Reading
Don’t go to Turkey. It’s dangerous. With umpteen terrorist attacks in the same number of months, people are scared off. Now is exactly the time for luxury family travel to Turkey.
What people don’t think about is that a) Turkey is a huge country and you might as well be in Greece on the Dalaman peninsula’s Mediterranean coast – Fethiye is 20 Minutes ferry to Rhodes, b) what unrest there is has been has generally been concentrated around the controversial political borders or capitals and 3) even in this day and age of terrorism you are statistically more likely to be run over by a bus than caught up in any sort of attack. Be clever, be informed and don’t miss out due to ignorance. Kalkan is alive and kicking, full of happy locals and tourists alike and is as safe as the next holiday destination. Continue Reading
When it comes to eyes in the sunshine, I take no chances. Cheap imitations are all very well but you only get one pair of eyes and protecting them is key. People are too quick to buy any old plastic because it looks goods . I’d sooner but a fake watch than fake sunglasses. No harm done if it breaks. Continue Reading
