Now I’ve made no secret of my crush on Mothercare. I’m missing their press day today unless my little boy gets miraculously better – he’s off school and despite having help, I don’t really want to leave him. I’m not going to get my sneak peek at next season’s goodies. A big shame.
Instead, I thought I’d put a little appreciation piece together giving you my favourites for the cold weather that seems to now be properly upon us.
In my humble opinion, Mothercare has really got it right with clothing. Great value and quality and collaborations with celebrities like Jools Oliver and this year Julien MacDonald really give them and edge. I have two boys. My five year old adores the Little Bird collection – the retro designs, rainbow colours and lots of stripes ticks all his creative boxes. What I love is that it’s totally mix and match and there are loads of unisex pieces.
This winter there are lots of Christmassy traditional touches too that remind me of my own childhood – fairisle tank tops and chunky roll neck jumpers. Pick well and your kids look cool but they still look like kids – for me that’s very important.
For my one year old I adore the Julien MacDonald SMILE collection. Playful, fun and importantly comfortable and practical. The two cutest sets are below. I couldn’t resist!
Mothercare, for me, really is the place to shop for all things baby and child. If you download the app you also get regular discounts. If it’s a shop that you overlooked before then now is the time to think again. It’s a one-stop shop with a brilliant offering. Shop here.
