Peppa Pig Live London

A review of Peppa Pig Live 2016. Peppa is touring The U.K. and Ireland in 2016. She is going up West too! To the opulent Duke of York Theatre, no less. Being the mother of a Peppa Pig Child, I decided that going to see Peppa Pig’s Surprise as a pre-Christmas treat, was in order.

So off we went, au pair, school friend and our new arrival, the now ten week old Gabriel (his third theatre visit – tres cultured n’est pas!) in sling, a very easy tube journey to Leicester Square and we’re there.

As I mentioned, the venue is what impressed me first – the Duke of York is a beautiful venue; dating back to 1892, a listed building having undergone several refurbs since, it’s a lovely luxurious setting.

Of course the little ones weren’t to know because the excitement levels were high! One glimpse of the posters outside and the adults are rushed inside!

A Fiery Lights production, this is the seventh consecutive year, so popular it’s proven to be and having experienced the show, it’s easy to see why.

Adapted for stage by Richard Lewis the production is colourful, charming and lacks any tackiness that you might expect from a children’s show. After all it’s suitable for ages 3+. Peppas friends are played by huge puppets managed by tuneful cast whilst Daddy and Mummy Pig are life sized!

It’s a lovely day and Peppa is playing outside. Mummy and Daddy Pig have a surprise but Peppa and George just can’t guess what it is.

An interactive show, with lots of singing and dancing and a special appearance by the Red Monkey at bedtime and giant real bubbles in the bath interspersed with ice cream during the interval (delivered to your seat!), the kids were transfixed. For any Peppa fans out there, this is worth every penny. Enjoy. Watch the trailer .
