Be Real Talks the organiser of fun events with a powerful message announced today the launch of the first in an original series of events called ‘Why size doesn’t matter – Explode the Beauty and Diet Myths’ on Tuesday 4 June at the London College of Fashion. Be Real Talks have gathered a dazzling line up of inspirational people including Dr. Linda Papadopoulos, Natasha Devon and Carol Spenser. The event is designed to make people laugh and inspire them to make positive changes – it’s not a lecture or a self-help group – it’s a cross between a theatre experience and a comedy club with a funky workshop element designed to explode beauty and diet myths and to provide tips to help people feel good 24/7.
The line up is:

• Dr Linda Papadopoulos – well-known and respected psychologist
• Natasha Devon – journalist and co-founder the Body Gossip campaign
• Carol Spenser – media stylist, broadcaster and best-selling author
• Hollie McNish – performance poet
• Sophie Boss – psychotherapist and author of Beyond Chocolate
• Sarah-Jane Szikora – figurative artist
• Deborah Frances-White – comedian
• Maddie Sparkles – entertainer and life coach

Tickets: £23.50 (20% Early bird discount available for a limited time)

Be Real Talks have gathered a dazzling line-up of inspirational women for the first in a series of unique events designed to entertain and enlighten people. The first event explodes the myths around beauty and fad diets through comedy, creative speaking and performance poetry to inspire and empower women to embrace who they are, not what size they are. At least 10% of proceeds will go to Beat the UK Charity that supports people with eating disorders.

Dr. Linda said: “I’m looking forward to speaking at ‘Why Size Doesn’t Matter – Explode the Beauty and Diet Myths’ about the complex relationship that we have with food and how we all conceptualise our weight and body image and to help people understand what they are doing and why and to help them understand how to ditch these negative thought patterns.”

The event is designed to inspire women to celebrate their bodies, whatever their shape or size and burst the diet bubble. The ultimate aim is to develop a long term initiative to raise awareness of body image insecurity in the UK.

Top media stylist Carol Spenser said: “I’m really delighted to be involved, as it’s about time women loosened up about their body angst and realised that success and happiness result from confidently accepting their natural shape rather than striving to attain some celeb-inspired ideal!”
‘Why Size Doesn’t Matter – Explode the Beauty and Diet Myths’, an inspirational evening from Be Real Talks, takes place on Tuesday 4 June 2013, from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm at the London College of Fashion. Tickets are £23.50 and include a free gift. Tickets can be purchased at www.berealtalks.com. At least 10 per cent of ticket sales will go towards Beat, the UK’s leading nationwide charity supporting people affected by eating disorders and campaigning on their behalf.
Susan Ringwood, CEO at Beat said: “We are delighted that Be Real Talks are supporting Beat. Body image is a key part of our sense of identity and not a trivial matter or one of personal vanity. The causes of eating disorders are complex, but we know that poor body image and low self esteem are key factors in the development of these serious mental illnesses.”
